Mark D. Tims, Q.C.
Founder
Our firm was founded by Mark D. Tims as Tims & Company in 1983. Mark practiced in virtually every area of the law, and appeared before all levels of Court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He maintained a vigorous real estate practice, handling high value agricultural and commercial deals, refinances, estate sales, and auctions. He also provided expert advice for estate planning and administration, and was instrumental in the firm’s litigation practice. Mark was an adjudicator, investigator, and counsel for numerous administrative tribunals, including the Real Estate Council of Alberta, Alberta College and Association of Registered Nurses, Student Finance Board of Alberta, Corrections Canada, and the National Parole Board.
Mark and his wife Phyllis lived out their strong commitment to Westlock and Alberta over many years. He was integral to the Town’s development and contributed to numerous community organizations.
Mark led by example and mentored the entire PT Law team. He articled all three PT Law partners, and provided an irreplaceable depth of legal knowledge to the firm. In recognition of his years of service to the legal profession and the public, Mark was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2006 (King’s Counsel, 2022).
In 2011, the firm became Properzi Tims, Barristers and Solicitors. Properzi Tims grew to service clients across Alberta, and established a reputation for responsive, efficient, and effective legal services to all clients, whatever the legal challenge faced.>
Mark passed away in 2022 and is deeply missed.
PT Law will continue to strive to deliver on Mark’s legacy and reputation. We are committed to understanding our client’s unique needs and providing pragmatic solutions with clear communication.
